16.4.12

This morning  i checked the mail  and saw that the caches that had been published last night and early hours this morning hadn’t been found yet so i said to chippy lets go grab these little gems. We wernt going to cache today, we had our day planned but you know us- no rules so we grabbed the car keys and hit Nicklin Way and made  our way to Caloundra hoping to get FTF, but its  a slim chance by the time we get there as jasonjanine are on to it usually their the FTF couple (loL) you gotta be quck to bet them. And its going to be a glorious day for caching when the sun decides to come out!  yep.. its a bit nippy.

First up was Holey Ducky  is kinda “de”ja”vu , we have been here before locating a previous cache but now has been archived, so’wesssofamily’ have placed a new one  only in a different hidy hole. Hopefully it wont be a Mission Impossible. And after a quick search with a muggler near by having a ciggi we had reveled the beast. O.M.G. we  realized we had a FTF in our grasp! I was so excited i forgot to take a pic. lol

Thanx wessofamily for making a chilly morning worth while:)

Next was  another new one of ‘wessos’  In the Rough and with one FTF already under our belts this morning we didnt think we would get another one.. We thought maybe the ‘Red Beast’ (another cachers veichle) might have slipped under our radar and got there before us (lol) but to our surprise, we were the only ones that had been there. Yay for us – it was a little wet and slippery under foot. Nearly arssed over a couple of times.

Mr Garmin decided he didnt want to play nice and that ment we were searching for awhile, we even went bush bashing but then realized there was a track we could of followed.. durr always the wrong way in!   It was a  very cool but peaceful  search just the birds singing away, but as we got closer to GZ we noticed we wern’t the only ones out, spying thru the boarder of the local golf course from the bush, we could see golfers were in the swing of things too. And ive come to the conclusion that the golfers must use this bush  for a   with all the toilet paper around. After awhile the gps settled and my geo-senses kicked in wanting me to go to that “BIG” treee, and after scratching around eventually the cache was unveiled.

Close to GZ

2 FTF for the day, couldnt get better. Wev’e been trying hard to get a FTF from ‘wesso’ they are hard to come by.. we usually end up as second,  but not today.. yay

Thanx again to the wessofamily!

Next was Concrete River Views a puzzle cache ohh no can we do it? yes we can! if we can find a micro nano on military machines we can do puzzels (lol) and this has been on our list for awhile and today seen we were this way again we thought now is better than never!

And to my surprise it was a fairly quick find. Oops am i been a    or what. Anyway the

1st clue is only the co-ords for the begining where concrete meets water.. hmm maybe needing gum-boots?  Maybe its that bit of water running over that concrete path, ok so well start from here and see!  we now have to stand facing SW and move so many paces till we located the No3.. and look there it is up along the bank. So far so good

The 2nd clue

Now to find the next clue, which will help find ground zero. Hunted around and look at this, here is a sign screwed @ the back on hinges so you swing it out to read it – who woulda thought. So the sign has the instructions for the final hunt

 the 3rd clue

And the rest was easy..or was it! count 6 trees and you’ll be @ gz but which way- left or right? starting from which tree there’s a row of them lets go.. Well we picked the right way and the funny thing about we got the cache out to put our stamp on and it says.. Beware of the black snake that lives in with the cache- hulo that should of been on the sign (lol)

Thanx for the puzzle cache  ’is-that-it’ it was fun doing and it added a smilie to our count which we like that idea.

Only three caches but we are on a different kind of mission today- remember it not about the numbers.. till next time

carry on caching!

Out caching on this chilly morning  grabbing a few more of the Monster Series and chucking in a few traditionals as we go around.

Monster lane 50 ..The Fendahl is an entity the will devour life itself. Originally from Jupitor they were imprisioned in a time loop by the Time Lords. They escaped and in the form of a humanoid skull were buried under volcanic rock on Earth 12 million years ago. In the late 20th century the Fendahl skull was discovered and bought to England to be released from its prison.

The Giant Robot 51..was created by Think Tank, a military research lab.

The Celestial toymaker 53..is immortal and is millions of years old alredy. He was cast out of an alternative univers for obeying a different set of pyhsical laws. The years of isolation have driven him mand and he stays distracted by playing games. If he was to loose a game is world would be destroyed

Mr Sin 54 is an cyborg with cerebral cortex of a pig. He was designed as a toy. He has a love of slaughter and hatred for mankind. He was based on the chinese dwarf god Kui Xing

Monster Lane 55.. The Sontarans  are a race quite humanoid in appearance from Sontar. They are a stocky build with greenish brown skin and a distinctive dome-shaped head; they only have three fingers on each hand. Their only weakness is a small spot at the back of their neck called the probic Vent. This is where they draw nutrition and is also part of their cloning process. It is because of this cloning they are extremely similar in appearance. All Sontarans are referred to as male.“Words are the weapons of womenfolk”.

Monster lane 61  lived on Skaro at the time of the ‘Great War’ with the Thal. They were originally a race of pacifists, teachers and philosophers. Kaled Davros was the last of the Dals.

Monster Lane 62 The Thal were once a war-like race but following the terrible war the Dals who share their planet they renounced violence and became pacifist farmers. They were forced to again take up arms against the Dals who have evolved into the Daleks when they returned and attempted to wipe them out.

The Slitheen 64  are a speicific family from Raxacoricofallapatorian. They are creatures of living calcium and are hatched from eggs. They are a ruthless criminal sect whose main motive in life is profit. They are trained to hunt and kill from a young age. The family are convicted criminals on their home planet and if captured will be subject to the death penalty.

Monster Lane 67 The Host are golden robotic angels in servent roles on the Titanic Space Cruiser. Initially it was thought they wer malfunctioning but the were being controlled by Max Capricorn. He was instructing them to kill. They used their halos as weapons and are able to fly. After Max Capricorn was kill they obeyed the next highest authority on board the Titanic; this being the Dr.

Traditional xtras

All Braun was a little tricky havung to find a place to park we had to park around the road off a side street as its on the main drag..  this actually reminded us of the Big Pineapple, you stand right @ gz and yet its up a few levels so really you are under it. Any way up we walked over three levels  and in the corner, in plain sight is gz, if it had teeth it would bite you. Im amazed it hasnt been muggled!

Zoe’nomas was very frustrating and it was damm chilly trying to locate it, it was sending to all corners of the tables like there were four of them. Finally settling down we narrowed it down to 1, now just waiting for mugglers to go so we can replace and move on for another smilie AND to get back into the car for some much needed warmth (lol) another smilie.

On the Boarder of Sandgate and Brighton. Both of these suburbs are named after their namesakes in England, interestingly Sandgate in Kent had a military camp called Shorncliffe Camp, on top of the cliffs adjacent to it. The road that follows the esplanade is called Flinders Parade named after the navigator Captain Matthew Flinders who was the first European to discover the area in order to establish a penal colony for Lord Brisbane, Governor of New South Wales.. A bit of trivia for you.

Chardonnay Play  not for us, of all days we had an play-ground inspector checking out the equipment close by and then the neighbour came out to have a look,  so we sat on the seat and waited   and let the fingers do the walking (lo) and bingo we had that sucker in our hand without anyone noticing.

Horses 4 Courses   was a quick find when able to acess it during a break in muggler traffic.. not as good wesso’s thats fairly average for you mate gotta step up to try and hide from us  kiwiz. Thanx for the cache people watching must think we are mad, like what are they doing on the ground.lol

Micro Armour..how the hell r we going to find this 1? with lots of patience of course and twezzers for retrieving the log out of that little sucker! Y.E.S its a magnetic MICRO, just what we wanted!  Another fellow cacher that rembered us from the ‘cache down the road’ a couple of months ago (do we leave that much of an impression)was there on his 2nd attempt. Damm not looking good, he gave up and left us to it. We went all over that tank its making me go  so back to the car for a break and a re-think, 5 mins later we had gz signed and sealed. Im glad i persevered. A favourite coming your way!

Bats on Bikes was a  cache out side of the power trail, it was thru a park, a muggle free area today which led to a quick find.

Eclipsed -Bike Mooring was unusual was an eclipse tin on a sign we thought it was a strange name in a strange place for a cache.. but what do we know(l) Nice bit of sculpture on way in.

Nothing like a spot of nocte’ caching…

After work i decided we should go find  De-Duced a cache that we have been to several times but it has eluded us. And as you other cachers know it makes the ‘map’ look untidy the smilies have to be in a group or certain area.  I think a bit of ssgbme has rubbed off on to me (lol). And i saw that someone had logged a find today and to me fresh tracks makes a quicker find. We grab the torches and we are ready for the hunt once more!

The closer we get to gz we were thinking is there tennis practice tonight? somethings going on! kids, cars and people everywhere. O.M.G  thats all we need. We parked in the usual spot (see been here done that) torches in tow, armour on and procceded towards the bush into the ‘heep’ AGAIN. Wait a minute, whats wrong with this pic? its dark, its in the bush and Narida is in the thick of it ohh noo.. its cool i have a method, its dark all creppy things are asleep. What you dont see dont hurt you. Anyway this cache has to be found! Looking all over the rubble pile, around and thru’ it and what i thought was, clearly wasnt. (tennis ball in rubble pile ) moved over to search other side carfully moving things aside lol then hel-lo what have we here? another tennis ball -the diffference between this one and the other one was this has been disected and had a log placed inside..  good ole’ chippy had his hands on gz, yay we found it at last.. yeah i helped i held the torches and took the pics.

Anyone for tennis… we got the balls

What a hide

 What a sneaky camo!!

Anyone for cricket? a cricket club means muggle central, and yes we have had to turn around and come back when the people traffic have lightened. Today we were up and  about with the sparrows ready to put our stamp on this baby.. the story goes, i didnt have a tall friend with me and that ment chippy had to do some stretches and loosen up that body to grab the goods its not like we have a step ladder in the car…  finally we got it signed, sealed and smilied. yay with no one around they are still in their sleeping sacks lol.

Twin Hill  Views was an awsome spot, this cache hasnt been found since xmas so we thought we would see if we could find it . After checking out the view it was down to buisness tolook for gz. The chippy picked up this rock and  #*&! look what jumped on his hand, he dropped the rock  the spider jumped back on it. I wonder who got the biggest shock ( i think chippy just quietly ).. it decided to stay there and watch us so i watch it to see when and where it ran too while we came across gz.  A very dirty and damp cache was retrieved from its hiding hole.  Excellant views.

 jumped on the chippys hand.

Statford Park was another that hadnt been found for awhile. And this is a scubb bulls cache  with a twist, you see there is no bush, no spiders, no snakes and NO ammo box, his usually involve some bush bashing, stick waving kinda finds..    i wonder lol oh yes this one was down ‘n’ dirty. The clue was twins, so we thought what ever it is it has to be 2 the only thing around was 2 rocks in a garden.. Mr Garmin keeps saying zero but nothing around, then we DUG and what! this cache is now a smilie, no wonder people arn’t finding it. Very sneaky ahh but for the kiwiz the sign says it all!

 Down ‘n’ dirty cache!

Wheres the Barra.. This cache has been muggled time and time again, its been archived and published again and re muggled.  As from today its up and running again, and we have been wanting to get this  for awhile so we thought we better go check out the new spot. Well this is going to be fun we have mugglers fishing right at gz, so its either A lots of stealth or B come back. We decided to stick with A lets go and catch us a “Barra”  I was chatting to the muggler about fishing..(yeah i know a little lol) while chippy was rock climbing to get to gz..a couple of mins later and only 1 thing to say.. Gotcha!

End of the End- Another excuse to visit Eumundi other than it’s famous Eumundi markets (which i love)   Second time here, this time luck was on our side or shall i say the weather. This is exactually as its say,  the END of the end

These 3 came thru the other night so we thought we would come down to currimundi and do the ‘Southside series’ the caches are placed along the walkway of -you guessed it the ‘southside’.

Southside Walk  #1  Ohh yeah there school mugglers and plenty of them. They must of been on a school excertion learning how to kayak, every 2 kids had one..  We can do this sneaking thru the trees to find the goods any way they were to busy listening to their instructions.. good kids!

Southside Walk #2    was  found after another lot of schoolies had passed thru on their way to learn kayaking this time along further, they were too excited to even notice was was going on thank goodness. We thought outside the square and came up with the goods. And what a bonus.. its our 500th cache- thanx GeoNinjaz.

Southside Walk #3 didnt have us stumped! This is the final in this series around the lake.We are use to these finds now and this was a really good hidy hole. Its a massive hollowed out stump beaut spot for a cache!

Warrior No.10 was  a rocky high nightmare..maybe if climbed up the other side it might not of been so bad but we always take the rough way in we didnt realize it was going to be a mission. The things we do to get a smilie. No matter how far we got mr ‘garmin’ didnt want to go down, still @100 further down the track still 100 clearly this gps thinks we havent moved, then up the top we reach and it jumped around a bit deciding it didnt like being up therehow much further then all of a sudden 50.40.20.10 yay 2nd stone shifted and there my friends was the ‘Emporer’ waiting to be signed.Thanx Corroy scouts

A rocky climb then a long walk along

ending with a bit of bush bashing

And soon the ‘emporer’ is in hand..

6 Guardians around the Mousehouse is not what we expected..  did you know that the good old common mouse  can be found in every household these days if you look properly, and im sure sometimes it would be considered a pest!! our power walk begun with approx a 1.2k treck, and then it was bush bashing.. so  now the body is bleeding and broken thru the prickly bushes, but the kiwiz trojan on and finally after a pumped work-out  we got a glimpse of  the white mouse and its ‘gaurdians’ (trees), OHH and lets not forget the ‘gaurdian’ of the ‘gaurdians’ a huge black spider..pic was too shaky to put on lol. So glad we can cross this off our list!

Thanx d.d.dudes for the cache and the workout!

The mouse and its house! very clever

Anzac day

Today.. we remember all Aussies and  Kiwis who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations. The spirit of ANZAC, with its human qualities of courage, and sacrifice, continues today.

The  Dawn Service along the Sandgate Esplanade

There is one more we got to end the day and to remember the fallen diggers. We decided to seek and retrieve a macro micro cache  that the Corroy Scouts  had hidden in a  gun in a memorial park. We  looked at the wreaths that had been placed for the day and followed the clues to get to GZ and soon enough we had that little gem in our hands. Thanx Corroy Scouts for the hunt for the cache

lest we forget

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old,

Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun,and in the morning

  We will remember them.

Today was our usual day off. We planned ahead for today.. we knew it was going to be a big one  were off to do the  Monster Lane Power Trail of Dr whos mosters and villians. Its along on the sandgate  and  gateway bridge + cyclist paths. We headed down early to get a good start.. Soon realizing thou with the traffic, road closures and people @ dawn services for Anzac Day, which = a public holiday, and that my friends turns into mugglers galore..

We did our best, but not able to attempt some, but in saying that we had a good day coming home with 26 smilies added to our map. Never fear we will return to finish what we started and retrieve the rest @ a later date (next week) lol.  but 4 today we were beaten by the mugglers.. Anyway these are the ones that we did mange to stamp our name on. You will notice some numbers are missing those places were jammed packed with mugglers. We did find the ‘odd’ traditional cache along the way so we picked tem up as well… Why not it all adds up lol. Heres some of the mosters and villians  story behind each cache..

K9 – Brighton -A nice place to spend a hot afternoon with the breezes that come in off Bramble Bay.

TFTC

Des-truction on the P***   was a drive by really and it was right out side these peoples place, the cache was a Berocca tube hanging on fishing line dropped between the pole and barrier on a residental street, felt a bit funny standing there signing the log. Hopefully we wernt being watched thru blinds lol. TFTC

TFTC

Morpheues’ Challenge was along the waterfront. A beautiful, early in the morning still quite a few mugglers around i decided to walk and take pics of the  horses riding thru the water along the beach with the sun glissering on the water, it was awsome.. The chippy (I thought) had it under control looking for the cache i was awhile, i saw him standing there i thought ‘oops’ im taking to long i better get back.. where was it?  i asked, he replied ‘pass havent found it’  i thought it must be a difficult 1, Ill take it from here! looking, looking hmmm where can it be OMG thats it, peeled it back and dada! chippy must have cache blindness cause look i found THE CACHE and a bonus. look what was beside it. TFTC

Awsome -skelaton in 1 piece, poor thing, clearly dehydrated

Shorncliff  Seabreeze..is exactually that you can admire the views and feel the breeze that comes along the shorncliff Esplanade . Thankfully it was a quick find and it wasnt over the cliff. We didnt feel like walking down those stairs again. While hubby went and got the car from down the road, as we couldnt get near the place lol, i decided to take in the views, sign and replace log snuggly ready for the next lucky finder. TFTC lokipagen

Parrearra Lakearrearra - was on the way home. This is another new one for ‘wesso’  we had to get it! Detours!

A quick detour before work and we come up with some xtra caches

Corella Park second on the list again a quick quite find theres another down the road, might as well grab that while were here.

Toolambi Canal Park is located on the bank of Toolambi Canal. Toolambi means ‘Bark’ in aboriginal. Its a lovely viewing area. Getting closer to gz, someone was there, could it be the cacher who had signed the other one. Sure enough it was rubykitten13.We chattered away as we bothed hunted for gz soon eough though good old chippy had grabbed the little.   So really a ‘joint’ 2nd to find..Its nice to meet a fellow cacher we  dont come across them  as we usually cache on days off which are during the week..

Thanx for the caches wessofamily!

Swan lake26 was a quick and easy cache right at the begining of the pathway, but there were mugglers around, so it was retrieve, sign log and a quick exit.

18.4.12

morning!

ok..checking once, checking twice

Petrol

Food

Jackets

Umbrella

xtra clothes

Fuel and food (need that for the day) spare clothing (in case it rains). Oh did i tell you we are going camping? dont be silly, just another caching adventure and with the threat of storms coming its good to be orginized lol. With that in mind we head down to Redcliff to turn the remainder green boxes into smilies, and finish off the area (hopefully).

Moldy ENT in Morris Park was first up and it was a fairly quick find. Believe or not some early rises around  here walking their dogs. luckily it was easy one we signed it then it was a quick exit.
Queens Sheild is a great spot, lots of fishermen i which had his eyes locked on us, if he paid more attention to fishing instead of us he might of caught 1 or 2. So the pace was slowing down the closer we got to gz, as soon as he turned we scampered behind the tree grabbed it to sign the log then replaced as quickly as we got it. its safe and snug .
Redcliffs  and approching gz we realized this should be a quick one as well it was a magnectic on the fence anf there appered to be no mugglers around, s0 when we had the jewels in hand we sat and admired the view for awhile then did the paper work and i took some snaps.

 Redcliff and cache below

The Spit was a beautiful place to be and we were lucky to be here early in the morning..  it was a great walk around to the spit, right to the end. And to top it off we saw our own dualong i took a pic but it went under to quick damm it! it was so cool and only a little 1. The cache itself wasnt a bad find yep we  finally ‘saw the light’lol and with  loads of mugglers around  we had to act cool. Spectacular views. Yep this ones gets a  from us.

We finally saw the light (lol)

A flock of pelicans that flew over us

Thanx for taking us to this spot

Gander @ Gayundah is @Woody Point, on the Redcliffe peninsula, It has lots of  walking/cycling paths and picnic areas offering picturesque views of Moreton Bay and Bramble Bay. The wreck of “Gayundah” is just beyond the end of a recently upgraded path but at present it is a bit of a tricky cache to get to.. there is a fence all the way round gz, but it didnt stop the kiwiz..thru the fence the chippy went. He was there for ages, down the bank serching thru the prickly bushes . I was walking back and forth talking and mugglers going past thought i was talking to myself, but i was talking to that person hiding lol. I carried on taking pics and looking on my side. Finally that little gem was found once more, but this time by the kiwiz.. Come on ppl what r u afraid of- go over that fence and get it its begging to be found! I can see why its a great place for  cachers, mugglers alike awsome wreck of the vessel called Gayundah and the history of it. This wooden stand has a bit of trivia as well, but the timber is an original piece of the boat.

 The Gayundah in full tide!

Pandandus at Pelican was rows of pandanas trees in a park, this tree was the lucky one that was hiding the treasure. When we parked the car  as close as we could to gz we thought it was going to be difficult with mugglers around, but no, we seemed to walk  STRAIGHT up and  retrieved  and replaced

Billy Goats crossing was a beast of a cache, nothing to do with billy goats crossing  like(the bridge i thought)  bvut inthe shrubs prickly shrubs too,Not only did we surrender our hands but we had it surrending to us..
Fetch Kroll Fetch was mugglers and their dogs  and didnt we look out of place in a dog park with NO dogs. We just walked thru and headed straight for the bush lol we did get some looks. A very wet and mouldy cache was soon found..now to leave quickly and quietly before the pooches find us.

light Horse this area is honouring the spirit of the anzacs, great monument

Reflections  by Lake haha no way- it was a clever hide, in a nice sort of area but ‘reflections by the lake’ it added a smilies and it wasa good hunt.
Slide like a rainbow ..Ever wonded what people do with wine bottle tops, well check this out! see this cute little cache, its past life was a wine top.. yep and i bet they had to down a few to get it  down to a fine art. hehe.Very clever hide underneath the bridge. We had to pause for awhile as a great dane and his owners decided to stop and chat!

King ball has me thinkin’ we need to get some pump shoes, you know the ones that you pump em and you grow a few feet lol.  you should of seen chippy climb this beam i was   so much i couldnt take a photo, a classic climb for sure. But he soon had that little gem in his hand. I was going to get a muggler kid to climb that was over the way playing basketball. Caching is so much fun!!
The Getaway was an easy quick find for the kiwiz
NIE sure is a busy little industrial area.. fancy making us get a magnet on a post another vertically challanged one not as bad as the some of them and in a busy area on the main road, but geo hubby got it.
Valve-oh brother just what we need another rock pile i cringe every time i see the cache we seek is a rock hunt and to top it off plenty of little holes to hide in. It did take us awhile and we were getting pressed for time as it was in an industrial place and all trucks of every kind were arriving and leaving..thankfully we up turned a rock and surprise surprise, look what we found!  and a bonus pic of the name sake the ‘VALVE’.

 Name sake

Warning Cerium.. danger danger!  umm  no, its not what i was expecting. I was waiting for a snake to come out, or spider fangs  spitting @ u or chemicals at large lol, but  all we came across a eclipse tin here. Wenoticed most of the street names around here are around chemicals ..  so i googled cerium and this is what i came up with -Cerium is the most abundant of the rare earth elements, making up about 0.0046% of the Earth’s crust by weight. I guess the joke was on us? haha

Shelob’s Liar called after one of the nastier characters of the Lord of the Rings. Yet again we are  victims to a rock wall hunt, the council workers were in for the mow, thankfully the serch wasnt a long one and we had the ttreasure.. but look @ the power box that was behind gz. BIZZAR

Power to the people-or maybe not(check out the padlocks)

Once a Boarder Line Case a quick drive by easy, signed and returned, luv these type.
Road to No Where another wessos new releases, hes getting very sly but lucky for us we had come across this type of hide..keep em coming !! last for the day

Check it out..pull on the fishing line and the cache comes from the top of the tree

Anyway the day went well and only 2 FIT  (find it later lol) under our hats, but 19 smilies added to our map what can i say!
