A fire has ripped thru and burned Peregian. Its hectic houses have been burnt to the ground, animals gone, it’s spreading fast thru the forest. Its terrorfing The rest home is right there.People are everywhere this is just down the road from our place, it gone from the back of shops all around and of course here, is all dry bush all around us. we have been up at the water tank hill to watch but we are heading home to wait for further instructions.

As the night goes on its getting worse wev’e had the neighbours knocking on doors to see if everyone is ok.. thought that was good, never been in this situation before wev’e been told to listen to radio, they keep you inform. you can start to smell smoke thru the house and outdoor is horrible thick smoke and you’d be surprised how noisy a fire can be. And im getting scared.The smoke and the crackling of trees are scary and close.

10.45 we are told to evacuate, all residents in Peregin Springs are to evacuate immediately. They cant contain the fire. Holy hell this shit is getting real. we are now told to go to our evacuation point which is the surf club.The fire went thru so fast they were unable to evacuated all residents in time at the rest home so the firies moved into the foyer while outside fire crews formed a 3 deep human shield around the building with 20 appliances as the blaze came towards it. With the winds it has turned direction and heading towards Peregian beach. Ive got all important papers the passports and clothing, im ready to go.

Within hours more than 7,000 residents had evacuated, its was chaos and panic, with a 9 mtr fire wall on the road and everyone trying to get out.

This fire has been burning since 4.30 peoples lives are at risk,houses are burnt, animals in the bush will be burnt or injured and pets are missing or stressed this is so horrible
